International Women’s Day – Staff and pupils from the International School of the International Institute of tropical agriculture IITA joined the rest of the world to celebrate women on March 8, 2022, with a commemoration walk on campus from the institute’s wellness center to the conference center.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is: โ€œGender equality today for a sustainable tomorrowโ€, with a hashtag #BreakTheBias calling on people to break the stereotypes and discrimination against women.

The program which had both physical and virtual participants from the various stations and hubs of IITA featured questions, and contributions on how to ensure a workplace, and a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

IITA Director General, Dr. Nteranya Sanginga who has been an advocate for women empowerment and gender equality in the workplace during his address reiterated that IITA will stop at nothing to achieve a gender-balanced environment.

International Women’s Day celebrated annually on March 8 โ€“ is a day that commemorates the social, political, and economic achievements of women all over the world.
