RadioIITA has been a beacon of knowledge and hope for millions of farmers across sub-Saharan Africa. Established to disseminate research-validated information from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), the station has consistently reached farmers with limited access to agricultural information. Our mission is simple yet profound: to inform, promote awareness, and empower farming communities with the knowledge they need to thrive.

However, RadioIITA seeks to go beyond just broadcasting information. We aim to provide a comprehensive extension role to farmers, ensuring they can effectively apply the knowledge and technology we promote. This literacy and empowerment program focuses on the importance of using improved, high-quality varieties. By doing so, we aim to improve yield and sustainability for farmers across Nigeria and Africa.

Our initiative seeks to bridge the gap between awareness and practical application. With this in mind, we plan to support soybean, cassava, maize, plantain, and banana farmers across various farming communities. The beneficiaries will receive improved varieties and proper training on using IITA technologies for better crop yields.

The benefits of this intervention are manifold. First, it will discourage farmers from reverting to substandard roadside seeds and planting materials. Second, it will accelerate the spread of improved agricultural technologies and practices, fostering a community of well-informed and equipped farmers. Third, it will allow small beginner farmers to raise capital for the planting season, giving them a strong start and fostering economic growth within their communities.
