The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Sportsfest Green Team has organized a mini get-together event to celebrate its achievements of emerging overall winner in the just concluded annual Sports festival activities of the institute.

Green Team which bagged 14 trophies and 30 medals, was declared the overall winner of five other teams in all the sporting activities which included football, tennis, volleyball, board games, and brisk walk.

The Sportsfest event organized by IITA offers a variety of sporting activities to promote unity and cohesion among the institute’s staff.

Harvest plus Cassava Breeder and team manager Dr. Elizabeth Parkes expressed her excitement for the team, made up of staff from various units and projects who came together to achieve a common goal. Also, IITA Assistant Treasury Manager and the team coordinator, Anthony Oriade, commended the team for the hard work, commitment, and excellence displayed throughout the competition.

All units of the institute were divided into 6 six groups, namely white, orange, blue, green, yellow, and red teams to compete in various games during the Sportsfest.

Participants of the 2022 Sportsfest event received a medal and a brand-new Bluetooth speaker each as their reward.

The green team, comprised the Cassava Breeding, Food and Nutrition, CTA/CDO/ RESAKKS, ATASPS1, CTA, BASICS, Finance, Pathology, and Security unit.
