The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) proudly welcomes His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, alongside key stakeholders in agriculture and food systems, for a high-level visit focused on strengthening partnerships for agricultural transformation and food security.
With support from the Nigerian government and Oyo State Governor, H.E. Seyi Makinde, this visit underscores a shared commitment to leveraging science, technology, and collaboration to drive sustainable agricultural solutions for Sierra Leone and the wider region.
As President Bio engages with IITAโs leadership, scientists, policymakers, and agribusiness partners, discussions focus on scaling climate-smart agricultural technologies, expanding research partnerships, and mobilizing resources for sustainable food production.
Through Feed Salone, Sierra Leone is taking bold steps toward food self-sufficiency, enhanced nutrition, and economic resilience. IITAโs research-driven approach provides improved crop varieties, mechanization solutions, and digital innovations to help farmers increase yields and adapt to climate change.
